Yealink W56P Cordless Handset

The Yealink W56P is a DECT cordless handset with a 2.4-inch colour screen, 30 hours of talk time and a charging cradle, the extra handset for a Netexem W70P base, for $79 or free with a service agreement, sold and installed by Netexem in Tustin for businesses across Orange County and Southern California. Call 714.444.0550.

It is a real office phone you can carry: it holds a line, transfers, pages another handset and rings on your belt from the far end of the building. This page covers the specs, who it suits, the steps people look up, and how it compares with the W70P kit, the WH64 headset and a basic desk phone.

Who the W56P is for

Staff who are rarely at a desk: a dental or medical clinic where the front desk walks back to the treatment rooms, a shop floor, a warehouse, an auto shop, a restaurant kitchen, or a small office that wants one phone number answered from anywhere inside. One W70P base covers the building and takes up to ten handsets, so each person carries their own and calls transfer between them without touching a desk phone. A nurse or a tech can answer with the wired headset while their hands are busy. Someone who sits at a desk all day is better served by a desk phone or a wireless headset; see the comparison below.

Yealink W56P quick guide

The steps people look up most, in plain words. Menu names match the W56P's own screen.

How to register a Yealink W56P handset to the base

  1. On the base, press and hold the page button (the one with the antenna icon) for about four seconds until its light flashes.
  2. On the handset, press OK, then go to Settings > Registration > Register Handset, and pick the base from the list.
  3. Enter the base PIN (default 0000) and press Done. The handset shows the base name and a signal bar when it is registered.

Netexem handsets arrive registered and set up. You only do this when you add a handset later or after a factory reset.

How to transfer a call on a Yealink W56P

  1. During the call, press the TRAN key under the keypad.
  2. Dial the extension (for example 1001) or pick a name from the directory.
  3. Press TRAN again to hand the call over straight away, or wait for the answer, announce the caller, then press TRAN.

To transfer to another handset on the same base, press Options, choose Intercom, pick the handset and press TRAN once it answers.

How to call another W56P handset on the same base

  1. Press OK on the idle handset and choose Intercom.
  2. Pick the handset you want (Handset 1, Handset 2, and so on) or All Handsets, and press OK.
  3. The other handset rings; press its green key to answer. Internal calls are free and need no line.

How to get the most from a Yealink W56P battery

  1. Keep the handset in the cradle whenever it is not in use; the battery has no memory effect.
  2. Short on time? Ten minutes in the cradle gives roughly two hours of talk time.
  3. A handset that no longer lasts a shift usually needs a new battery, a standard part: call 714.444.0550 and we swap it.

Note: Charge with the Yealink cradle and adapter only; a phone charger will not fit and can damage the handset.

Voicemail, call forwarding, hold, conference calls and intercom work the same on every Netexem phone; see the Netexem phone system user guide.

The full Yealink manual covers every feature; the W56P datasheet lists the specifications. Netexem customers can simply call 714.444.0550 and we walk you through it.

Yealink W56P compared

W56P vs W70P

W70P: $129

The starter kit: one W56H-style handset plus the base station. Buy the W70P first, then add W56P handsets at $79 each.

W56P vs WH64

WH64: $165

A wireless headset instead of a handset: hands free, pairs with a desk phone and a computer, for staff who talk all day at one desk.

W56P vs T34W

T34W: $80

A basic desk phone at about the same price, for a spot that always has a desk; the W56P wins where people move around.

Yealink W56P questions

How much is the Yealink W56P from Netexem?

$79 one-time per handset on the month-to-month plan, or included free with a service agreement. It needs a base: the W70P kit (base plus first handset) is $129. Phone service is $19.99 or $29.99 per user per month, fixed, with free installation, training and number porting and no long-term contract.

What is the difference between the Yealink W56P and W56H?

The W56H is the handset itself. W56P is the kit name Yealink uses when the handset ships with a base and charging cradle. On Netexem's list, a W56P is an extra handset with its cradle that joins the W70P base already in your office.

How far does a Yealink W56P reach?

Up to about 160 feet indoors in open space, less through thick walls (Yealink quotes 65 to 160 feet), and up to 1,000 feet outdoors with a clear line to the base. A warehouse or a clinic with thick walls can add DECT repeaters to extend the range; Netexem places the base and repeaters on install day.

How long does the Yealink W56P battery last?

Up to 30 hours of talk time and about 400 hours (16 days) on standby from a full charge. A quick 10-minute charge gives roughly 2 hours of calls, so a handset left off the cradle overnight is back in service after a coffee break.

Who sets up the Yealink W56P?

A Netexem technician from our Tustin office installs the base, registers every handset and trains your staff, anywhere in Orange County and Southern California. If you install yourself, we ship the handsets to your office anywhere in the US and talk you through registration by phone.
