Yealink T74W Desk Phone

The Yealink T74W is Netexem's Top Pick for a standard office desk: a 4.3-inch colour screen, 10 programmable buttons, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, sold and installed by Netexem in Tustin for offices across Orange County and Southern California. $169 one-time, or free with a service agreement. Call 714.444.0550 for a quote.

It replaces the T54W as the phone we put on most desks: the same screen size and key count, in the newer T7 series with faster wireless and a quicker processor. Below: the specs, who it suits, the setup steps people look up, and how it compares with its siblings.

Who the T74W is for

The default desk phone for a dental or medical office, a law firm, a contractor's office or a real estate team: anyone who answers, holds and transfers calls through the day and wants to see at a glance which colleagues are free. Its Wi-Fi means a new desk can go anywhere in the suite without pulling a cable, and Bluetooth means a wireless headset without an adapter. If a desk needs more buttons or a bigger screen, the T85W steps up; if it only needs to make and take calls, the T73W or T34W costs less.

Yealink T74W quick guide

The steps people look up most, in plain words. Menu names match the T74W's own screen.

How to set up Wi-Fi on a Yealink T74W

  1. Go to Menu > Basic > Wi-Fi.
  2. Set Wi-Fi to On and select Save. The phone scans for networks in range.
  3. Pick your network, select Connect, type the Wi-Fi password and select OK. A Wi-Fi icon appears in the status bar when it is connected.

A cable is still the most reliable choice for a busy desk. A phone on Wi-Fi gets no power through a cable, so it needs the $5 power adapter.

How to pair a Bluetooth headset with a Yealink T74W

  1. Put the headset in pairing mode.
  2. Go to Menu > Basic > Bluetooth, set Bluetooth to On and select Scan.
  3. Pick the headset from the list and select Connect. The Bluetooth icon appears at the top of the screen.

The same menu pairs your cell phone, so its contacts show on the desk phone and you can take a cell call through the handset.

How to factory reset a Yealink T74W

  1. With the phone idle, press and hold the OK key until it asks whether to reset to factory settings, then confirm.
  2. From the menu instead: Menu > Advanced (default password admin) > Reset Config > Reset to Factory Settings.
  3. Leave the phone powered on until it has fully restarted; the reset can take a few minutes.

Note: A Netexem phone sets itself up again after a reset: once it is back on the network it downloads its settings and returns with your extension, keys and voicemail. Call us first at 714.444.0550, since most problems are fixed remotely without a reset.

How to wall mount a Yealink T74W

  1. Remove the desk stand and fit the optional T7 wall-mount bracket to the back of the phone.
  2. Run the network cable through the bracket before you hang it; with PoE that is the only cable.
  3. Flip the small tab under the handset cradle so the handset stays put when the phone is vertical.

Tell us when you order and we bring the bracket and mount the phone during the install.

Voicemail, call forwarding, hold, conference calls and intercom work the same on every Netexem phone; see the Netexem phone system user guide.

The full Yealink manual covers every feature; the T74W datasheet lists the specifications. Netexem customers can simply call 714.444.0550 and we walk you through it.

Yealink T74W questions

How much is the Yealink T74W from Netexem?

$169 one-time per phone on the month-to-month plan, or included free with a service agreement. Phone service is $19.99 or $29.99 per user per month, fixed, with free installation, training and number porting and no long-term contract.

What is the difference between the Yealink T74W and T54W?

Same size screen, same 10 programmable buttons, same price. The T74W is the newer T7 series: Wi-Fi 6 instead of Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 instead of 4.2 and a faster processor. Netexem recommends the T74W for new desks and treats the T54W as a special order.

Does the Yealink T74W support PoE?

Yes. It takes power through the network cable from a PoE switch, so one cable does everything. Without PoE, or on Wi-Fi, it needs a power adapter, which Netexem supplies for $5.

Can the Yealink T74W take an expansion module?

Yes, up to three colour-screen key modules for more colleague keys. Tell us how many people need a key and we configure the module with the phone.

Who installs the Yealink T74W?

A Netexem technician from our Tustin office installs it on site anywhere in Orange County and Southern California, usually in one to four hours for a whole office, and trains your staff that day. Prefer to install it yourself? The phone sets itself up when it is plugged in, and we ship it to your office anywhere in the US and guide you by phone or screen share.
